A woman who portrayed a younger iteration of one of the Spice Girls in one of the group’s music videos nearly three decades ago has shared with Sky News her desire to see all five members reunite following a previous unsuccessful effort.
Sharna D’Rosario took on the role of Baby Spice when she participated in the video for the iconic track, Mama, at the tender age of just three, alongside four other youngsters who represented the group’s other members.
During the pandemic, Sharna reached out to Alice Connor, who played the mini Posh Spice.
Now 30 years old, she conveyed to Sky News that she “simply wants to reconnect” with the remaining three members to “check in on how everyone is doing and what they have been up to”.
The initial endeavor to reunite occurred around the 25th anniversary of the release of the phenomenally popular girl group’s debut album, Spice, in 2021.
Despite their efforts becoming “quite popular on social media” and “going viral”, they were unable to track down the other members.
She recounted how “many individuals were sharing it. Numerous fan pages were involved, and I succeeded in connecting with Alice, who portrayed a young Victoria Beckham, and together we attempted to disseminate it more broadly, but regrettably, we couldn’t locate the last three and thus were unable to reunite the group once more”.
The original Spice Girls disbanded in 2001; however, they managed to come together for a tour in 2007 and even graced the stage at the London Olympics closing ceremony in 2012. A European tour unfolded in 2019, but it was without the actual Posh Spice.
Sharna acknowledged that the group “became somewhat of a part of my upbringing” following the filming, as she “obtained their video and I cherished their music, often listening to their CDs”.
Furthermore, another Spice Girls reunion tour “would be delightful”, as she believes “fans worldwide would greatly appreciate that”.
Reflecting on the day of the shoot, she remarked that her recollections are somewhat hazy, yet described it as “a rather enjoyable day,” even though she felt “intimidated” the first time she “spotted the camera”.
During a segment of the video, where she appears in a fairy costume, she candidly revealed that she was in tears, despite the fact that “the production team ensured it was a very enjoyable experience”.
