Strictly Come Dancing performer Amy Dowden was swiftly transported to the hospital following last night’s main event – however, she has expressed that she is feeling “much improved”.
The dancer, who is also managing Crohn’s disease, had returned to the program in August after undergoing cancer treatment.
A representative for Dowden stated: “Amy was experiencing discomfort and therefore an ambulance was summoned as a precautionary measure. She is feeling significantly better and wishes to extend her gratitude to the Strictly family for their support and concern.”
“We kindly ask that Amy’s privacy regarding her health is honored.”
A spokesperson from Strictly added: “Due to unexpected events, Amy Dowden MBE was unable to attend tonight’s results show.”
Dowden, who has not teamed up with a celebrity contestant on the entertainment series since 2022, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May last year.
Prior to her return, she expressed her delight at receiving confirmation from her doctor that there was no sign of disease.
In a post on Instagram earlier this year, she referred to the news as “words I had longed to hear” and her “greatest achievement to date”.
The 34-year-old mentioned that she will not receive full clearance for five years and will require monthly injections along with consistent check-ups.
Dowden was honored with an MBE in this year’s New Year’s Honors list for her contributions to fundraising and raising awareness regarding Crohn’s disease.
