Jeremy Clarkson has stated he was advised by his physician to reduce his workload following a heart procedure.
The 64-year-old disclosed earlier this month that he underwent the insertion of two stents – devices that enhance blood circulation to the heart – due to a “sudden decline” in his health.
In a column for The Sun on Friday, Clarkson expressed that while he didn’t find the operation intimidating, “what is frightening, however, is the counsel on how I am to conduct my life moving forward”.
The former Top Gear presenter mentioned, “I am no longer permitted to enjoy myself” and noted that his physician indicated “much” of his current work “would need to be diminished.” Clarkson shared that his doctor recommended substituting it with golfing.
“If I ceased working, I would just remain at home all day, moldering,” he remarked, before adding: “The biggest issue, however, is my diet.”
“To reduce my alarmingly elevated cholesterol levels, I must entirely eliminate everything I relish consuming,” Clarkson stated.
“Bacon, sausages, beef, lamb, pork, butter, fries, whole milk, Cadbury’s fruit and nut bars, and the delightful part in an egg.”
“I’ve had a week to acclimatize to the new regime, and it’s dreadful.”
The Who Wants To Be A Millionaire host stated he would “continue” to work but adjust his diet – mentioning he was aware that his previous lifestyle “wasn’t conducive to living until the age of 112”.
Clarkson articulated that he “rather desired to live a bit longer” following his surgery and wishes to witness his “grandchildren grow up”.

Last week, the presenter penned a piece for The Sunday Times where he recognized feeling “clammy,” experiencing a “tightness in my chest,” and “pins and needles in my left arm” during his holiday.
Clarkson mentioned he subsequently consulted his doctor after learning about Alex Salmond’s unexpected passing, before being transported to Oxford’s John Radcliffe Hospital by ambulance.
While a heart attack was ruled out, he indicated that his medical team believed he was potentially “days away” from experiencing severe health complications.
The star’s concluding Grand Tour episode was broadcast in September, but he continues to host Amazon Prime’s Clarkson’s Farm and ITV’s Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?
Moreover, he recently inaugurated a pub named The Farmer’s Dog in Oxfordshire, near his residence in Chipping Norton.
