A Sheffield woman, Tammy Lane, aged 35, has been sentenced to two years in prison for assaulting a police officer. Lane’s conviction stems from a section 20 assault, during which she violently attacked a police officer involved in the arrest of a suspect for drug offences. The court learned that Lane, residing in Adlington Crescent, physically harmed the officer by breaking his nose and chipping four of his teeth through a forceful kick. A thief from Doncaster, who assaulted a shop worker while attempting to steal alcohol from a small supermarket, has been sentenced to jail. Rebecca Lyne, aged 42, committed the assault at Heron Foods in The Green, Thorne, on October 2nd. She had tried to leave with £12 worth of gin cans, prompting the store’s staff to confront her. Instead of cooperating, Lyne fled the scene with staff in pursuit. During her escape, Lyne physically assaulted one staff member by striking her in the chest. A 25 year-old man from Rotherham has been jailed after he attempted to rob a woman after watching her enter her property alone. Luke Hodgson, of Clarence Street, Rotherham, was sentenced to 10 years and eight months in prison after appearing at Sheffield Crown Court on Tuesday (31 October). According to the court proceedings, Hodgson approached the victim’s residence, where he proceeded to knock on the door.
