Authorities have initiated a fresh appeal in an effort to locate the mother of a baby who was discovered shrouded in snow last month.
The remains of a newborn female infant, referred to by officers as Ava, were located close to Ashtons Field in Salford on November 20.
It has been over a month since a dog walker uncovered the heartbreaking remains of Baby Ava, prompting Greater Manchester Police to launch a renewed appeal to discover Ava’s mother.
The specific cause of death for the infant has yet to be determined, but authorities are pursuing ‘all potential leads’.
In addition, police reported that tributes and gifts left for Baby Ava have been donated to various charities and care facilities.
DCI Charlotte Whalley stated: ‘We remain dedicated to uncovering the identity of Ava’s mother and the circumstances that resulted in her and Ava being separated. Our resolve to find answers for Ava is steadfast and will persist throughout the holiday season and beyond.’
‘We urge anyone with information that could assist us, regardless of how minor it may seem, to reach out, as it may be pivotal to the investigation.’
The Sun has reported that authorities are optimistic about extracting DNA from a piece of pink fabric found at the site, which could potentially lead to identifying Ava’s mother or a relative.
However, police continue to express concern regarding the well-being of Ava’s mother, who might have been in a ‘distressed’ state, leading her to abandon her child.
Additionally, specialists including botanists, anthropologists, and archaeologists are collaborating with law enforcement as they seek to gain further insights regarding Ava.
