Arrest of Metropolitan Police Firearms Officer on Suspicion of Sexual Assault
An inspector working in the Special Firearms Command of the Metropolitan Police has been taken into custody on suspicion of sexual assault.
The arrest of the officer, who is also a firearms specialist, took place on 24th June. Along with the accusation of sexual assault, other offenses are also under investigation.
Following the arrest, the officer was granted bail until mid-September pending further investigations, as stated by law enforcement authorities.
Due to the seriousness of the allegations, the officer has been relieved of duty, and the case has been handed over to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) for further review and assessment.
