Princess Anne Breaks Silence Following Harrowing Horse Incident
Princess Anne has spoken out for the first time after experiencing a horse mishap at her Gatcombe Park Estate residence in Gloucestershire.
The 73-year-old has conveyed her ‘deep regret’ while recuperating from ‘minor injuries and a concussion’.
The princess was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, as confirmed by Buckingham Palace, and has now been discharged after a five-day treatment.
Anne was scheduled to attend an event commemorating the centenary of the Newfoundland National War Memorial but was unable to do so.
In her absence, the Governor General read a message from the princess, where she reminisced about the commemoration.
The message expressed: ‘I have fond memories of joining you in 2016, on the 99th occasion that the people of this Island commemorated the Battle of Beaumont Hamel, and I am deeply saddened that I’m unable to join you again, and I send you my warmest best wishes on this special day of commemoration.’
Princess Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, extended his gratitude to the medical team, stating: ‘I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all the team at Southmead Hospital for their care, expertise, and kindness during my wife’s brief stay.’
The princess had to call off her upcoming appointments during her hospital stay.
Buckingham Palace, in a statement released last week, mentioned: ‘Her Royal Highness is receiving appropriate expert care. No further details are being shared at this stage.
‘Her Royal Highness will remain in Southmead Hospital unless or until her medical team advise otherwise.
‘On doctors’ advice, Her Royal Highness’s engagements for the week ahead will be postponed.
‘Her Royal Highness sends her apologies to any who may be inconvenienced or disappointed as a result.’
