During a recent concert in Boston, Justin Timberlake seemed to jest about his recent arrest for drink-driving.
The Grammy Award-winning singer was taken into custody in Sag Harbor, a well-off village in the Hamptons in New York State a month ago.
In a video circulating on social media from the weekend, Timberlake playfully asks the crowd at Boston’s TD Garden arena: “Anyone here driving? Just kidding.”
The audience seemed to react positively as he engaged them further.
The Sag Harbor Village Police Department disclosed that Timberlake was stopped at 12:37 am local time (5:27 am UK time) on Tuesday, 18th June after being observed “ignoring a posted stop sign and failing to stay in his lane” while driving a BMW.
According to court records, an officer noted his eyes were “bloodshot and glassy” and detected a “strong smell of an alcoholic beverage” on his breath.
The court documents added, “He displayed an inability to multitask, had slow speech, appeared unsteady on his feet, and performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
A source informed Page Six, the New York Post’s entertainment platform, that Timberlake quietly remarked during the arrest: “This will ruin the tour.”
Timberlake vehemently refuted the accusations, with his legal representative expressing eagerness to “vigorously defend” the artist.
The 43-year-old, renowned for his past involvement in the pop group NSYNC, was detained overnight after the arrest until his arraignment at Sag Harbor Village Justice Court and subsequent release.
A court appearance is scheduled for 26th July.

He is set to continue his US tour with upcoming performances in Baltimore, Maryland; Cleveland, Ohio; and Lexington, Kentucky.
Timberlake is also scheduled to perform in Birmingham, Manchester, and London in the UK during August.
