The gates of the annual Glastonbury Festival have officially opened, with attendees eagerly seeking out optimal camping locations.
A festive atmosphere was set with a brass band performance as organizer Emily Eavis initiated the start of the renowned music extravaganza.
Yet, alongside the influx of campers at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset, sporadic showers are anticipated, as per meteorological predictions.
Festival attendees should anticipate predominantly warm and dry weather conditions over the next five days.
Nonetheless, isolated showers could commence from the first day and persist through the weekend, according to the Met Office.
Consistent with past editions, Wednesday will not host amplified performances, with the primary music stages commencing on Friday.
Headlining this year are renowned artists such as Dua Lipa, Coldplay, Sza, and Shania Twain, among others, offering a diverse lineup for the 900-acre festival.
Aside from musical acts, attendees can enjoy talks, screenings, circus acts, and comedy shows.
Kicking off the festivities on Friday on the Pyramid Stage will be rock band Squeeze, followed by Olivia Dean, Seventeen, and Paul Heaton.
Later, PJ Harvey and LCD Soundsystem will set the stage for Dua Lipa’s performance.
The 28-year-old singer is set to enthral the audience with a mix of her popular tracks, including Houdini and Training Season from her latest album, Radical Optimism, released earlier in the year.
On Saturday, the main stage will showcase performances by Nigerian musicians Femi Kuti and Ayra Starr, followed by Cyndi Lauper and Keane.
Mercury Prize recipient Michael Kiwanuka and British rapper Little Simz will grace the stage before Coldplay takes the headline spot.
This appearance marks Coldplay’s fifth headlining performance at Glastonbury, their first since 2016.
