A gentleman accused of impersonating a ‘gimp’ while trailing women and youngsters in a Suffolk town states that he is ‘misunderstood’.
Denying allegations of following anyone, 26-year-old Josh Harper insists that his dark attire and face covering shield him from the sun.
Individuals in gimp attire are recognized for donning snug outfits made of latex or leather, sometimes displaying ominous red or white markings near their eyes.
Harper has been seen in a hoodie, cargo pants, a cloth concealing his lower face, and occasionally wellington boots.
‘My perception of a gimp differs from how I present myself,’ expressed the 26-year-old.
He added, ‘The mask helps shield my face from the sun in warm weather.
‘It provides warmth in cold weather and also covers my mustache since I lack razors.’
However, speculations have been circulating for several weeks about sightings of an individual dubbed the ‘Bungay gimp’ in the charming market town, with his face mostly obscured.
The ‘gimp’ was recently captured by a Ring camera ringing a stranger’s doorbell in the early hours of the morning in Bungay.
Such behavior led to a woman giving him the ‘Bungay gimp’ nickname after supposedly pursuing her young daughter on more than one occasion.
It’s not the sole instance where the ‘Bungay gimp’ has been accused of tailing women and schoolkids.
Another lady mentioned that the mysterious man altered his course to trail her after passing by her in a separate occurrence around the same time.
Beccles & Bungay Journal documented her statement, ‘It was truly bizarre. I felt extremely frightened and was just about to contact my father when a friend coincidentally drove by and noticed me.’
