Kate Absent from Order of Garter Service Following Trooping the Colour Attendance
The monarch and their partner led a ceremony for the historical Order of the Garter, with the Princess of Wales missing in action after participating in Trooping the Colour over the weekend.
Both Kate and the King have been receiving treatment for cancer.
The Duke of York, a member of the order, also skipped the service after withdrawing from public life due to controversy surrounding his association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Order of Garter Ceremony
Amid pleasant weather, the members of the Order of the Garter paraded through Windsor Castle’s grounds for the annual service honoring England’s oldest and most distinguished knighthood order, established in 1348 by Edward III.
During the event, one of the guards accidentally fell backward at a certain point.
New Companions of the Order
Notable composer Andrew Lloyd Webber was among the recently appointed Companions of the Order, consecrated during the service at St George’s Chapel.
Lord Lloyd Webber, known for musicals like The Phantom Of The Opera and Cats, attended a private recognition ceremony in the Garter Throne Room within the castle earlier in the day.
The Duchess of Gloucester was also honored as a Royal Lady of the Garter, with Lord Kakkar, emeritus surgery professor at University College London, and Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach being instated as Knight Companions.
