Giovanni Pernice has categorically denied accusations surrounding his actions while participating in Strictly Come Dancing as being completely untrue. The 33-year-old Italian dancer expressed his full cooperation with the ongoing BBC investigation and eagerly anticipates the moment where his name will be cleared.
Last week, the BBC officially announced that he will not be returning for the upcoming season, marking the end of his nine-year run on the show. Despite complaints regarding his behavior, Pernice has consistently refuted claims of any abusive or threatening conduct during his tenure as a professional dancer on the popular BBC One primetime series.
In a recent Instagram post, Pernice addressed his supporters saying, “Every week, there are completely false stories circulating about me in the media. As you are aware, I have consistently denied any allegations of abusive or threatening behavior. The latest accusations are unequivocally untrue.”
“I am fully cooperating with the ongoing BBC investigation to uncover the truth,” Pernice assured. “I have maintained silence as requested, but I eagerly await the investigation’s outcome to clear my name and establish the truth.”
He expressed gratitude for the unwavering support of his fans and followers, stating that their messages and love hold significant meaning to him. Pernice expressed optimism about a swift resolution to the investigation and reinstating his reputation.

Despite the current controversies, Pernice, who captivated audiences since 2015 with his performance in the grand final alongside Georgia May Foote, remains dedicated to entertaining. Over the weekend, he graced the stage once more along with Strictly judge Anton Du Beke with whom he is presently on tour as well as co-hosting a travel series. Decked out in matching half black and half white suits, Pernice greeted the audience at Beck Theatre in Hayes with the words, “It’s nice to be back.”
In 2021, Pernice clinched the coveted Strictly glitterball trophy alongside Rose Ayling-Ellis from EastEnders, who made history as the first deaf contestant. While a legal firm representing the accusers mentioned that the broadcaster is collecting evidence, the BBC has not officially initiated any investigation as of yet.
