Authorities have been notified of a potential electoral issue due to several general election candidates registering under the name of a YouTube personality known for pranks.
Independent candidates using the alias Niko Omilana are registered in 11 constituencies in England and Scotland, including Rishi Sunak‘s constituency of Richmond and Northallerton.
Omilana hinted at this move in a video on his social media platforms, expressing his intention to run for prime minister and aiming to oust Mr. Sunak from office.
With over seven million subscribers on YouTube, he is recognized for daring feats such as sneaking into the KSI vs. Logan Paul boxing rematch.
In 2021, he contested in the London Mayoral election, emerging as the top independent candidate after garnering nearly 50,000 votes.

In addressing the multiple Niko Omilana candidacies, the YouTuber stated in a video: “We will work towards removing Rishi, and remarkably, we have achieved the impossible. We endeavored to field Niko Omilana in various locations nationwide, and miraculously, we succeeded.
“My goal is for Niko Omilana to secure more votes than any other candidate and declare myself as prime minister.”
Where is Niko Omilana running as a candidate?
In addition to Richmond and Northallerton, Niko Omilana is slated to stand in Leeds East, Leeds South, Coventry South, Greenwich and Woolwich, North West Essex, Bermondsey and Old Southwark, Birmingham Perry Barr, Dundee Central, Stockton West, and Ealing Southall.
Each candidacy is associated with a distinct address and endorsed by different individuals.
The Electoral Commission conveyed: “We are cognizant that the same individual has been nominated as a candidate in multiple constituencies for the general election.
“Candidates are obliged to confirm in their nomination papers that they are not contending in any other constituency.
“Providing false information on nomination papers when applying as a candidate, including falsely asserting they are not running in another constituency, constitutes an offense.”
If such an instance has occurred, it is deemed a matter for law enforcement.
According to electoral regulations, officials must accept details on candidate nomination forms at face value and approve them if the nomination complies with requirements.
Candidates are not obligated to present identification when submitting forms, and officials lack the authority to conduct investigations.
Falsifying information on a nomination form constitutes an offense, punishable by up to six months in prison or a fine, as advised by the Electoral Commission.
