A woman has been stabbed to death just metres away from a bus stop in the middle of the day in northwest London.
People watched in horror as the attack happened in Burnt Oak Broadway, near the Tube station in Edgware.
A crowd gathered at the site as police were called at about 11.50am earlier today.
It is understood that paramedics arrived within two minutes, but nothing could be done to save her.
The victim was treated for her injuries, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.
She has not yet been named and enquiries are ongoing to identity and inform her next of kin.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed there have been no arrests for her murder at this early stage.
Footage shows heavy police presence still at Burnt Oak Broadway, including a van and at least three cars.
Superintendent Tony Bellis described what happened as a ‘very sad incident’.
He said: ‘I understand the shock and concern this very sad incident will cause. I want to reassure people it will be investigated by a specialist team of experienced homicide detectives, and we will support them in their work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible.
‘Local residents will see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days, I would ask the community is patient while officers carry out this vital work.’
