Unlike the most familiar bees, such as honeybee or the bumblebees for instance, the ‘tawny mining bee’ is a solitary nester. This is just one species of a large group (or genus) of solitary mining bees, and many of these look superficially like our honeybee, though the tawny mining bee is rather distinctive. Also, it is important to note that these are totally harmless and will not sting you.
