Organized and partially funded by Discover Halifax, the non-profit organization responsible for coordinating the majority of the town’s bustling Christmas program, which includes public events, activities, and street entertainment, the Parade aimed to be a family-friendly spectacle.
The procession kicked off at Woolshops at 4:30 pm, following a straightforward route through the heart of Halifax and setting the stage for the town’s festive season.
Choreographed by Handmade Productions, a local team from Calderdale renowned for their work on Hebden Bridge’s annual Handmade Parade, the Christmas Parade featured charming costumed characters, captivating moving puppets, and an array of engaging activities. Attendees could participate in crafting workshops, enjoy live music, and revel in drumming performances. The animal lanterns of the Parade bowed their heads down into the crowds, allowing children to pet them, which was magical.
The festivities extended to The Piece Hall’s beloved Christmas Market, showcasing 50 local independent artisan makers and traders.
