A child predator has been sentenced to life imprisonment after abducting an 11-year-old girl while she was returning home from primary school and sexually assaulting her.
On April 19, 2024, Adam Baillie, 39, from Harrow, captured the girl and brought her to his residence.
Fortunately, she managed to break free from her captor and ran to nearby residents for assistance, who subsequently informed the police.
The young victim successfully indicated the location of Baillie’s home to the authorities prior to his arrest.
In October, Baillie was convicted of kidnapping and sexual assault at Harrow Crown Court.
He received a life sentence, with a minimum of 10 years to serve.
PC Georgia Devaney-Brighton, the Sexual Offences Investigative Techniques Officer involved in the case, stated: ‘Today we have secured justice for this brave young girl, and I hope the gravity of this sentence offers some solace to her and her family.’
‘This heinous act has caused significant distress within the local community.
‘This young survivor has displayed extraordinary courage throughout this ordeal; her strength and determination to cooperate with us were crucial in achieving this conviction.’
‘I want to express my gratitude to her and her family for their confidence in the police and their perseverance during such a challenging period.’
