New requests have been launched for details concerning what would have marked the 20th birthday of Ellis Cox, who was fatally shot in Liverpool last June.
Several individuals have been apprehended regarding the homicide at Liver Industrial Estate; however, no one has been formally charged at this time.
The family of the 19-year-old, along with law enforcement agencies, have paid their respects to him and urged anyone with details to step forward.
Ellis was shot in the back following a clash between his companions and another group of up to three males on Sunday, 23 June.
His mother, Carolyn, honored him in an appeal coinciding with what would havebeen his 20th birthday.
“He was incredibly kind… so easygoing, so composed, and surprisingly mature for his age. Plus, he had an amazing sense of humor. Really funny.
“He was my little one… no parent should ever have to bury a child. He was my entire world. I don’t know how to move forward without him.”
In addition, his aunt, Julie O’Toole, remarked that he was “the kind of individual that I believe you would struggle to find anyone who could say something negative about him. He was devoted, fiercely devoted… everything revolved around his family.”
In honor of Ellis, Liverpool City Council plans to illuminate the Cunard Building and Liverpool Town Hall in orange on Saturday.
Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, the lead investigator, discussed the information collected to date, six months after Mr. Cox’s tragic death.
“I am convinced that the group he was with was likely the intended target… and I would argue that this may be linked to localized drug trafficking in that area. However, Ellis had no part in that at all,” he stated.
He mentioned that the police are seeking “truly substantial pieces of evidence at this stage”, including “attempting to recover the weapon used in this incident and locating the bicycles that were utilized by the suspects”.

Mrs. Cox also urged individuals to provide any pertinent information.
“If you possess any details, please don’t allow us to reach [his] next birthday without knowing anything.
“We need to achieve justice for Ellis. It is essential that we remove those who took him from us from the streets.”
