The Princess of Wales recently visited the Royal Marsden Hospital to express her gratitude to the staff who cared for her during her cancer treatment.
Kate also engaged with other patients at the London facility – marking the occasion as the first public acknowledgment of her treatment location.
Upon her arrival at the main entrance, she remarked that it was delightful to publicly enter after having made numerous “quiet, private visits”.
The princess dedicated around an hour to meet with individuals, at one moment sitting alongside a patient who was beginning their first day of treatment.
A representative from Kensington Palace stated: “The Princess sought to make this visit not only to convey her appreciation for the remarkable team but also to shine a light on the world-renowned care and treatment that the Marsden offers.”
In September, Kate, aged 43, revealed that she had completed chemotherapy for a type of cancer that remains undisclosed, describing the past six months as “extremely challenging”.
In March 2024, the princess announced that she was undergoing preventative chemotherapy after tests conducted post-abdominal surgery indicated cancer had been detected.
Last week, Prince William commended his wife’s resilience by sharing a photograph to celebrate her birthday, referring to her as “the most extraordinary wife and mother”.
He added: “The strength you’ve demonstrated throughout the past year has been truly remarkable. George, Charlotte, Louis, and I are incredibly proud of you. Happy Birthday, Catherine. We love you. W.”
Kate will now serve alongside Prince William as a royal patron of the Royal Marsden – a prominent specialist cancer institution that tends to over 59,000 patients annually.
