Rotherham United transfer updates: League One competitors return striker from loan
Kayode has only made two starting appearances for the Shrews, including one in the League Cup, where he netted his sole goal against Notts County. He was substituted before the penalty shoot-out, which his team won following a 3-3 draw.
This marked the 24-year-old’s seventh loan experience. Having not featured for Rotherham this season, he remains eligible for another loan opportunity since players are restricted from appearing for three different teams within a single season.
Kayode made his debut for the Millers in 2017 but has managed just six league starts since then. He has commenced 38 matches for various clubs during this period.
His only league goal for Rotherham was scored against Wimbledon in February 2022.
This development follows the news that midfielder Christ Tiehi has finalized a permanent transfer to Hungarian side Diosgyori VTK.
The French player was eager to return to Europe as he faced difficulties in spending time with his family in England due to post-Brexit visa challenges.
The transfer fee received by Rotherham remains undisclosed; however, manager Steve Evans stated on Friday that it would surpass the previous club record fee they paid for him in 2023, which was estimated to be close to £1m.
