A suspect has been charged with the murder of a woman whose remains were discovered nine days following her disappearance.
Authorities reported that comprehensive searches and appeals were initiated to locate Mariann Borocz after her disappearance on December 14th.
Her remains were found at a residence in Bolton, Greater Manchester, on Christmas Eve.
Christopher Barlow, 61, a resident of Bolton, has been charged with her murder and is currently held in custody, awaiting a court appearance before magistrates on Thursday.
Greater Manchester Police indicated that Ms. Borocz’s family is receiving support from specialized officers.
Detective Chief Inspector Tony Platten expressed gratitude to individuals who provided information to officers and participated in the missing persons campaigns.
“On behalf of the entire investigation team, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Mariann’s family as they navigate the profound impact of her passing,” he stated.
“Our investigation is progressing rapidly, and we are diligently working to compile a comprehensive timeline of events leading to Mariann’s death.”
“As part of our inquiry, we are once again urging the local community to come forward with any additional information.”
