A suspect has been apprehended following the tragic death of a two-year-old boy in a hit-and-run incident, according to authorities.
Additionally, four adults sustained injuries during the event, which occurred just prior to 11pm on Saturday on Dartmouth Road in Smethwick, located near Birmingham.
West Midlands Police stated that the operator of a grey Porsche Cayenne absconded from the site after colliding with a Toyota Auris, which was transporting the adults and the young child.
The law enforcement agency reported that the child subsequently succumbed to injuries after being transported to the hospital. A 29-year-old female and a 30-year-old male both remain in critical condition.
In a recent update, police officials announced that a 30-year-old male was detained on suspicion of causing death through dangerous driving on Monday.

West Midlands Police indicated that they responded to information received. The suspect remains in custody for further interrogation.
Additionally, the force confirmed that checks on the Porsche involved in the incident revealed it had been reported stolen earlier in December.
