Two individuals have been transported to the hospital, while several others sustained injuries following a fairground attraction that “malfunctioned and collapsed” in Birmingham.
The West Midlands Fire Service reported that the ride “descended to ground level while in operation” during an incident that occurred around 7:30 PM on Thursday.
As per the West Midlands Ambulance Service, paramedics discovered 13 individuals requiring assistance upon their arrival at the location in Centenary Square.
Two women received treatment from ambulance personnel for injuries “not considered serious” and were subsequently taken to the hospital, stated a spokesperson.
Approximately a dozen others were evaluated and released at the site, she continued.
The West Midlands Fire Service mentioned: “We assisted our ambulance colleagues in treating several casualties, whose injuries are not life-threatening.”
“We are not engaged in the rescue of any additional casualties.”
The police indicated that they had responded to reports concerning an issue with a ride.
They additionally stated that a “small number” of individuals were being treated by paramedics but “no serious injuries have been reported”.
