Max George from The Wanted is set to undergo surgery and confront “a challenging few months” following tests that revealed “complications” with his heart.
The 36-year-old artist was swiftly admitted to the hospital after experiencing illness yesterday and has since informed his fans that he will remain there throughout the Christmas period while healthcare specialists assess “what procedure I will require to help me recover.”
In a message posted on Instagram, he stated: “Hello everyone, I felt quite unwell yesterday and had to be taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, after undergoing a series of tests, they discovered that I have certain issues with my heart.”
“I have many more tests ahead to ascertain the severity of the problems and determine what surgery I will need to facilitate my recovery.”
The vocalist, who is currently dating former EastEnders star Maisie Smith, expressed: “It’s going to be a tough few weeks or months… and spending Christmas in a hospital bed certainly wasn’t on my agenda!”
“However, as always, I’m enveloped with love and support from my amazing partner Maisie, her family, my own family, and friends… and I am definitely in the best possible position.”
George acknowledged that despite the news about his health being “a significant shock and undoubtedly a setback,” he feels “extremely fortunate that this was detected when it was.”
The singer accompanied these reflections with a photo of himself smiling and giving a thumbs-up while in his hospital room.
