My Chemical Romance has confirmed that their longest-tenured drummer, Bob Bryar, has passed away at the age of 44.
A representative stated on Sunday: “The group requests your patience and understanding as they come to terms with the news of Bob’s departure.”
No details were provided regarding the circumstances of his death.
Bryar contributed to the 2006 album The Black Parade, a concept album that positioned them as icons of the ’emo’ rock movement, despite the band’s disavowal of the label.
The Chicago native succeeded Matt Pelissier in 2004 and departed in 2010; The Black Parade stands as the sole studio album he participated in.
After leaving the music scene, he transitioned to a career as a real estate agent. The US band did not hire a permanent replacement and disbanded in 2013.
