A property developer who has acquired Matthew Perry’s former residence in Los Angeles has revealed details about a blessing ceremony conducted at the site.
Anita Verma-Lallian, who is also engaged in film production, shared photographs and a video on Instagram, stating that she and her family aim to honor “the positive contributions of the former owner’s life, his extraordinary talent, and the happiness he brought to countless individuals”.
She further mentioned that she would preserve certain features – notably the iconic Batman symbol in the pool at the estate, which “is certainly remaining”.
Perry was discovered deceased at the home in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood on October 28, 2023, at the age of 54.
In her Instagram post, Ms. Verma-Lallian expressed: “The moment I entered the residence, I instantly fell in love with the features, particularly the view of the Pacific Ocean. We recognized it was ‘the one’ and immediately decided to submit an offer.
“As a property developer myself, I hold the belief that every residence has a story that may be known or unknown to us, and each home embodies the energy that its current occupants infuse into it.
“Being Hindu, it is traditional to perform a blessing and prayer whenever a new home is purchased. We were fortunate to have our Panditji [Hindu priest] from Arizona visit the residence to conduct the blessing.”
The decision to purchase the property had no connection to Perry, “merely our admiration for the residence”, Ms. Verma-Lallian remarked.
She mentioned that the family intends to maintain some of the design features, including the Batman emblem, adding: “It’s a slice of paradise filled with light and the ideal vacation home for us. We are excited to create new memories here.”
The estate was sold for $8.55 million (£6.6 million) through an off-market transaction, as reported by U.S. media.
Throughout his life, Perry candidly discussed his struggles with substance dependency and established a sober living facility for men facing similar challenges.
Ketamine, a sedative utilized both recreationally and for treating depression and pain management, was determined to be the primary factor in his passing.
Five individuals were charged earlier this year following an investigation that uncovered a “vast underground criminal network” of people who “exploited” Perry when he relapsed into addiction.
On the anniversary of the actor’s demise last month, Friends cast members, including Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston, paid their respects, with Cox sharing photographs and posting on Instagram: “Missing you today and forever.”
