Sir Keir Starmer has expressed his congratulations to Donald Trump alongside global leaders after he proclaimed victory in the US presidential election.
The Prime Minister of the UK conveyed his anticipation of collaborating with Mr Trump in the coming years, emphasizing that the bond between the UK and US will “continue to thrive”.
“As the closest of allies, we are aligned in defense of our mutual principles of freedom, democracy, and enterprise,” he remarked.

In other developments, Ukraine‘s President Volodomyr Zelenskyy expressed his eagerness for “a period of a robust United States of America under President Trump’s assertive leadership”.
Concerns were raised regarding the future of US support for Ukraine after former Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev stated that a Trump victory could spell difficulties for the nation, which was invaded by Russia in 2022.
However, Mr Zelenskyy mentioned in a meeting with Mr Trump in September that they “deliberated extensively on the Ukraine-US strategic partnership, the plan for victory, and strategies to halt Russian aggression against Ukraine”.
He is also among those offering congratulations to Mr Trump, alongside Israel‘s Prime Minister.

When queried during the election campaign regarding his potential support for Israel amid its conflict with Hamas should he be re-elected, Mr. Trump asserted: “No one has done more for Israel than I have.”
Mr. Netanyahu referred to Mr. Trump’s triumph as “the greatest comeback in history”, suggesting it heralded “a new era for America and a robust reaffirmation of the enduring partnership between Israel and the United States”.
Hamas indicated that Mr. Trump’s success “challenges him” regarding his assertion that he could bring an end to the conflict within hours.

President Macron expressed his readiness to “collaborate closely” with Mr. Trump, while Mr. Orban referred to it as “a crucial win for the world.”
Turkey‘s president Recep Tayyip Erdogan praised Mr. Trump for achieving “a significant victory” and expressed his belief that “more efforts will lead to a more equitable world.”
Simultaneously, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended congratulations to his “friend” on his “historic electoral achievement”.
