Drivers have much to express regarding the roads of England – and they have recently designated the finest among them.
If you find yourself frequently traversing the nation’s highways, it’s likely you hold strong opinions about the conditions of UK roads – encompassing the good, the bad, and the ugly.
Motorists recently weighed in on the worst motorways in the country, which was unfortunate for several primary routes challenged by roadworks, potholes, and delays.
There was no fondness for the M25, often referred to as the world’s largest parking lot and dubbed ‘the road to hell’ due to its regular traffic congestion.
A segment of the M25 and A282 experienced gridlock last week after a truck fire and a malfunctioning maintenance vehicle in Dartford caused hours of distress for commuters in Surrey and Kent.
Drivers have now disclosed their preferred roadway and the characteristics that distinguish it.

The A19 in North Yorkshire has topped the chart in a survey involving over 9,000 drivers conducted by Transport Focus.
This 124-mile route stretches from Selby through York, Thirsk, Easingwold, Crathorne, and concluding at Teesside, earning the acclaim for its road quality and clear signage.

The A19 achieved an impressive score of 85% for overall satisfaction – significantly outpacing the second-place M40, which garnered a score of 79%.

The York Civic Trust noted that the road, which is relatively modern in comparison to the older A1 it parallels, possesses a unique charm.
A representative stated to BBC News: ‘Perhaps its identity as the ‘other’ northern road contributes to the charm of the A19.’
‘Moreover, its lesser-known status among drivers can be beneficial, as many perceive it to be less crowded and with fewer traffic delays than the A1(M).’
The survey evaluated aspects such as travel time, road surface, perceived safety, and road markings.
Respondents indicated that it felt the most secure, assigning the A19 an impressive safety score of 87%.
Only the M40 surpassed the A19 in the category of road markings, achieving a score of 87% compared to the A19’s 86% rating.
In contrast, the A12 received a mere 55% for overall satisfaction, including a disappointing 34% for its road surface.
