The head coach of Bristol City, Liam Manning, will be taking a leave of absence following the tragic passing of his infant son.
The football club expressed their profound sorrow in a statement regarding the loss of Liam’s newborn son, Theo John Manning.
They further stated: “We understand that Bristol City’s fans and the broader football community will extend their condolences and deepest sympathies to Liam, his spouse Fran, and his son Isaac during this challenging time.”
The Championship club did not disclose the duration of the 39-year-old’s absence.
In his absence, Manning’s assistant Chris Hogg will assume the coaching responsibilities temporarily, as stated by the club.
A number of other football organizations and players offered their condolences following the announcement made on Monday, including Bristol City’s local rivals, Bristol Rovers.
“Everyone at Bristol Rovers conveys our love and heartfelt condolences to Liam and the Manning family during this incredibly sorrowful time,” the rival club remarked.

Manning was appointed as head coach of Bristol City on a three-and-a-half-year contract in November of the previous year.
Before this, he held positions at Oxford United, MK Dons, West Ham and New York City FC.
