The remains of Diego Maradona are set to be reinterred in a different location following the endorsement of the plan by an Argentine court.
This development comes after the football icon was interred in a private cemetery subsequent to his passing in November 2020.
Nonetheless, Maradona’s children declared last year their desire to relocate their father’s remains to a public mausoleum, enabling fans to pay their respects face-to-face.
A judiciary in San Isidro, located on the periphery of Buenos Aires, sanctioned the plans during a session on Wednesday, citing “humanitarian and emotional reasons.”
The court specified that Maradona‘s five offspring ought to determine when the relocation takes place.
At present, Maradona’s remains are interred at the Jardin de Bella Vista cemetery, situated approximately 31 miles northwest of the capital.
According to the plans, Maradona’s body will be transferred to a new mausoleum designated as the M10 Memorial in Buenos Aires‘ affluent district of Puerto Madero.
The site is currently under development.
