A suspected gunshot reportedly hit a taxi transporting Have I Got News For You personality Ian Hislop.
As stated by the Guardian, the editor of Private Eye was seated in the rear of the black cab in Soho, central London, when a purported bullet impacted the cab’s rear window.
The occurrence transpired shortly following 10am on Tuesday on Dean Street, not far from the Private Eye office, according to the newspaper.
Both Hislop and the cab driver emerged unscathed from the event, and authorities cordoned off the surrounding streets, it further reported.
A source disclosed to the Guardian that the police maintain an open perspective regarding potential motives.
In an official statement, the Metropolitan Police indicated it was summoned “to a report of a firearms discharge.”
“The operator of a London black taxi reported he was idle in traffic when a shot was directed at his vehicle, striking the window,” the police elaborated.
“There were no injuries reported. An inquiry has been initiated.”
