The leader of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, has died following airstrikes in Beirut, according to the Israeli Defense Forces.
In recent weeks, Israel has executed a series of assaults against Lebanon, focusing on the conflict along its northern frontier.
On Saturday, Israel directed a series of strikes at Beirut, asserting it had targeted the main headquarters of Hezbollah.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that they executed a “targeted strike” on Hezbollah’s “main headquarters,” which they asserted was “disguised beneath residential structures in the heart of Dahieh in Beirut.”
The initial strike rattled windows throughout the city, sending substantial smoke clouds into the atmosphere.
Although Israel emphasized the precision of their strike, preliminary reports from Lebanon’s health ministry indicated that at least six other individuals had perished, with 91 injured.
Israel identified Nasrallah as the main target, and there were early reports suggesting he had survived.
However, after several hours of uncertainty, his demise was confirmed by Israeli sources.
“Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to instill fear in the world,” they stated, while Hezbollah has yet to provide a definitive statement regarding the status of its leader.
In addition to claiming the life of Nasrallah, the IDF stated it also eliminated several other commanders, including Ali Karaki, the leader of the southern front.
This marks a continuation of a recent pattern where Israel has consistently targeted Hezbollah’s leadership.
Simultaneously, on Saturday, Israel initiated another series of strikes on Beirut and the Bekaa Valley, following a day of extensive assaults on the capital.
Smoke ascended from the southern suburbs of Beirut on Saturday morning, with streets empty after the area faced relentless Israeli bombardment that allegedly resulted in Nasrallah’s death.
