The quest for the successors of Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger has commenced as HBO initiates casting for the television adaptation of the beloved film series.
The open casting announcement was validated by the studio to Variety on Tuesday following its publication online by Cast It Talent.
Producers mentioned they are seeking children residing in the UK and Ireland who will be between the ages of nine and 11 by April of the upcoming year.
The search for the successors to Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and the other stars from the initial films will be “inclusive of all races, ethnicities, and gender identities,” the producers stated.
Aspirants are required to submit two video recordings; the first should consist of “a brief poem or story of your choice” which can be derived from a “favorite book, a monologue from a cherished play, or something you have created yourself.”
Recording via a mobile device is “acceptable,” but “please,” the advisory noted, “avoid any material from Harry Potter.”
Applicants should use the second video to share personal information including “a little about yourself,” along with date of birth, height, and your place of residence.
Additionally, they must “describe any family member, friend, or pet” they are “especially close to”.
The first video should not exceed 30 seconds, while the second is capped at one minute, and both must be recorded in “your own accent.”
The deadline for submitting videos is October 31.
