A man bearing a Nazi tattoo on his face has been condemned to death for the murders of two women, according to reports.
Wade Wilson, infamously dubbed the ‘Deadpool killer’ because his name is akin to the Marvel character portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in the film series, received his sentencing on Tuesday from a Florida court.
Wilson, who opted not to address the court in Lee County earlier that day, displayed no emotion as the sentence was delivered, the Independent reported. Applause and cheers erupted from those in attendance.
In June, he was convicted of killing Kristine Melton and Diane Ruiz, both residents of Florida, in the city of Cape Coral on October 6, 2019.
He was sentenced to death for each offence, as stated by the New York Post (NYP).
Circuit Judge Nicholas Thompson remarked, “The evidence indicates the murders were vicious, heinous, and cruel,” emphasizing that the second killing [of Ms. Ruiz] was “cold, calculated, and premeditated.”
The jury had advocated for the death penalty, and Judge Thompson conveyed that Wilson’s actions were so deplorable that he found “no grounds” to contest their recommendation, the NYP noted.
The 30-year-old, marked by a swastika tattoo on his face, murdered the women “simply for the act of killing,” Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner informed the court earlier.
Wilson first choked Melton, 35, at her residence in Cape Coral, where her remains were subsequently discovered after the two had met at a live music venue.
After stealing the deceased woman’s vehicle, he utilized her phone to contact his girlfriend, Melissa Montanez, 41. He attacked her, but she declined to enter the car.
Subsequently, he encountered Ms. Ruiz, 43, who sought directions in Cape Coral and invited her into the vehicle.
As the woman attempted to exit the car, Wilson strangled her before discarding her outside, only to return and “run over her until she resembled spaghetti,” the court was informed.
Ms Melton endured facial and bodily bruising, haemorrhages on her neck, as well as contusions on the lungs, liver, bladder, and colon, among other injuries, according to the Independent.
Among her injuries, Ruiz sustained a nasal bone fracture, a laceration to her left breast, bruising on both sides of her body, in addition to multiple rib fractures.

Wilson’s defence emphasized that he experienced brain damage resulting from drug dependency and had issues of abandonment stemming from being relinquished for adoption by his biological parents.
His adoptive parents appealed for mercy, stating in a letter that “the human is still within him.”
Wilson was also found guilty of grand theft, residential burglary, battery, and petit theft.
In Florida, individuals sentenced to death have the option to choose between lethal injection or electrocution.
