The income from Katie Price’s TikTok activities will be halted, as part of continued efforts to settle a bankruptcy case against her, as ruled by a court.
The 46-year-old former glamour model – known by her legal name Katerina Price – was absent from the virtual hearing despite being officially notified at her designated addresses.
In the hours leading up to the hearing, Price shared on TikTok that she would be live on the platform later that evening.
The proceedings were overseen by Insolvency and Companies Court Judge Catherine Burton, with attorney Darragh Connell representing the trustees, and attorney Lauren Kreamer representing TikTok.
Mr. Connell mentioned that there had been “some advancements” in the case; however, he expressed concern that payments to Price through the social media platform were made without the knowledge of the trustees.
He informed the court that a total of £95,000 had been paid to Price by TikTok between March and May of this year.
There were also discussions on whether TikTok should redirect 100% of Price’s earnings from the site to the bankruptcy trustees.
He requested TikTok to pause payments to Price until the details regarding the bankruptcy payments were resolved.
Ms. Kreamer informed the court that TikTok was willing to adhere to the ruling and was not creating any obstacles or challenges.
However, she stated that there might be a delay while TikTok investigated if their algorithm could redirect a portion or the entirety of a content creator’s payment.
To conclude the hearing, Judge Burton confirmed the court’s decision to halt payments to Price until an agreed percentage of her TikTok earnings would be redirected to the trustees, pending confirmation from the company that this was feasible.
Price’s next bankruptcy hearing is set to occur at the Rolls Building on Tuesday, 27 August. She is currently scheduled for an in-person appearance but may seek permission to attend remotely.
Price was arrested at Heathrow Airport at the end of July due to missing a bankruptcy hearing.
She had just returned from Turkey where she had undergone cosmetic procedures.
At her subsequent court appearance, Judge Burton sternly instructed her that she must attend all future court sessions without exceptions.
Price was declared bankrupt in March because of an outstanding tax bill exceeding £750,000.
