How are Sandra Bullock and David Beckham connected to Emily In Paris?
It appears that they both acted as guiding figures for the stars of the show as they began their careers.
In an interview with Sky News, Lily Collins mentioned that observing Sandra Bullock portray the kindest and most powerful female character on The Blind Side helped her understand that it is feasible to remain kind while being in the spotlight.
“During my initial film, I was mentored by Sandra Bullock, and she took me under her wing and demonstrated the ropes to me during that experience,” she shared.
“She unknowingly taught me important lessons as I observed her on set… her interactions with everyone, her demeanor, the inquiries she made, and how she valued her role in ways that I did not initially realize could be valued, or the perspectives one can offer, or the authority one has to express their own ideas,” Collins expressed.
“I truly valued and respected her approach towards work and personal conduct, and we remained in contact,” she added.
“Being under the wing of this incredible, powerful, and kind female figure left a lasting impact on me during my initial experience.”
Collins elaborated that it was these same qualities that drew her to her leading role in Emily In Paris.
The plot of the Netflix series revolves around an American woman relocating to Paris to pursue her marketing career in the “city of romance”.
It showcases her journey of learning French, adapting to a foreign land, and forming new bonds and connections along the way.
“The contrast between being confident and asserting oneself while acknowledging inadequacies and experiencing breakdowns depicts the complexity of being able to portray multiple facets of oneself concurrently,” she said.
“In this season, we witness Emily tackling challenges more openly, and I believe this adds a layer of realism to her character.”
Collins concluded, “One cannot excel in every role to perfection constantly and neglect personal well-being. Understanding this and allowing oneself some leeway is essential, a lesson we all should heed.”
The Influence of David Beckham on Lucien Laviscount
The show features various romantic interests, with Lucien Laviscount portraying Alfie, an English financier resistant to learning French.
Prior to joining the Netflix series, he had roles in Scream Queens, Skins, and Coronation Street.
His initiation into an acting career is attributed to David Beckham.
“I got noticed for modeling while in Manchester for Marks & Spencer, and it turned out that David Beckham was present on set. He then made a call to an acting institute in Manchester to enroll me.”
Laviscount shared that he later had the opportunity to reconnect with Beckham regarding the influential moment for him.
“I crossed paths with him at [a hotel in LA] and I went up to him saying: ‘Thank you for changing my and my family’s life’.”
“We had a brief moment and I’m sure he has no memory of it at all. I have now become good friends with his son which is quite unusual but yeah,” he added.

The actor expresses that despite his accomplishments in acting and modeling throughout the years, he is still astonished by the trajectory of his career thus far.
“Every day, I have that moment of ‘what am I doing?’ Impostor syndrome creeps in a bit and it’s a matter of faking it till I make it in my mind kind of situation.”
