## Forecast: Thunderstorms and Flooding Alerts in UK
### Yellow Weather Warning for Thunderstorms
The Met Office has issued a **yellow weather warning for thunderstorms**, raising concerns for potential flooding and power outages across the UK.
Fueled by a recent heatwave, some areas might see rainfall equivalent to a month’s volume within a few hours.
Currently, 10 **flood alerts** are active in the North East England and the East Midlands.
The thunderstorm warning is effective until 11.59pm today, encompassing the East Midlands, East of England, London & South East England, North East England, North West England, South West England, Wales, West Midlands, and Yorkshire & Humber.
### Weather Outlook
The Met Office spokesperson mentioned the likelihood of thunderstorms affecting South East England during the early hours of Thursday, potentially spreading to East Anglia.
The rain could accumulate 25-40 mm in an hour, with a slight chance of exceeding 60mm in a span of two to three hours, coupled with frequent lightning.
Another area of concern is showery rain expected to develop and move northeastwards across Wales, the Midlands, and northern England.
### Impacts and Risks
Impending heavy rain and possible thunderstorms could lead to rain accumulations of 25-50 mm over a few hours in certain regions.
Unsettled weather conditions are anticipated to persist through Thursday morning before easing by midday, with some areas receiving significant rainfall.
Motorists should brace for challenging driving conditions and possible road closures due to flash flooding.
Train and bus services might face cancellations in areas hit by lightning and flooding, impacting travel plans.
Prepare for potential power cuts, as homeowners and businesses are advised to take necessary precautions.
### Yellow Heat Weather Warnings
In addition to thunderstorm alerts, yellow heat weather warnings have also been issued across England (excluding the North East and North West) until Friday by the UK Health Security Agency.
Following a week of scorching sun and temperatures hitting 27°C in various parts of the UK, the weather pattern has shifted drastically.
It’s a welcomed change from the dreary and stormy weather experienced through June and July.
