Root Causes of Infrastructure Challenges
Over the past few decades, Beijing has undertaken significant infrastructure development projects, including the construction of an extensive network of highways, high-speed railways, and airports. However, issues such as a decline in economic growth, inadequate infrastructure quality, lax safety oversight, and a tendency among industries to cut costs have resulted in various fatal industrial incidents.
Geographical Vulnerabilities
The western and southwestern regions of China are characterized by mountainous terrains and strong river systems, rendering them highly susceptible to instances of flooding.
