Renowned figure from Strictly Come Dancing, Graziano Di Prima, has officially announced his departure from the show amidst allegations of improper behavior.
The 30-year-old Italian performer expressed regret in a statement for the circumstances leading to his withdrawal.
Reports emerged that Di Prima was released from the BBC primetime program following claims of serious misconduct towards a past dance partner.
In an Instagram post, he stated, “I regret deeply the chain of events that have resulted in my exit from BBC. My fervent zeal and unwavering determination to succeed may have impacted my training routine.”
“Out of regard for the BBC HR process, I perceive it as beneficial for the show that I step back.
“Though there are certain undisclosed external elements in this narrative currently, I am dedicated to being a pillar of strength for my loved ones.
“I extend my best wishes to the Strictly family and the BBC for their future endeavors. I am also grateful for the support I have received throughout my career, both in professional and personal capacities. I will reveal my narrative when the time is right.”
Di Prima became part of Strictly in 2018, partnering with celebrities such as radio presenter Vick Hope, TV personality Judi Love, broadcaster Kym Marsh, and reality TV star Zara McDermott.
A representative of the BBC stated: “We can confirm the departure of Graziano Di Prima from the roster of professional dancers in the forthcoming season of Strictly Come Dancing.
“While we do not comment on individual cases, the BBC has robust procedures in place for duty of care, and will promptly address any raised concerns.”
Following the confirmation that Giovanni Pernice will not participate in the professional dancer lineup due to allegations concerning his teaching methods.
