Anticipate thunderstorms and heavy rainfall across certain regions of the UK today.
The Met Office has raised a cautionary yellow weather alert for the southwest of England, encompassing a significant part of Cornwall and Devon, from 1pm to 9pm.
Residents in the affected areas should brace themselves for slow-moving thunderstorms and intense downpours that could lead to disruptions in public transportation, challenging driving conditions due to spray, sudden road floods, and potential power outages.
There is a possibility of rainfall ranging from 15 to 30mm per hour and up to 40 to 60mm over several hours in severely impacted zones, accompanied by hail and lightning, according to the Met Office.
The rainfall is expected to gradually diminish by evening.
