London to Experience Hot Weather
London is about to have a temperature surge this week, closely matching the warmth of Barcelona. The Met Office forecasts temperatures in the capital reaching as high as 24C by Friday, resembling the conditions found in holiday destinations like Tenerife, Majorca, and Nice.
Statement from Met Office
Met Office’s deputy chief meteorologist, Dan Harris, mentioned, “After a cooler start to June, we anticipate a rise in temperatures during the second half of the week, transitioning to around or above average levels, providing a very warm experience for those under the sun.”
Current Weather Conditions
The initial days of June witnessed below-average temperatures, affecting businesses reliant on summer tourists. The UK observed its coolest first 10 days of June since 2020, in stark contrast to the record-breaking heat of June last year.
Upcoming Weather Conditions
Some regions in the UK can expect wet weather before the sun shines. Weather warnings for thunderstorms have been placed in effect for regions like Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cumbria, and the East Midlands.
Anticipated Changes
Highs of 24C are forecasted for south-east England, with the possibility of lower twenties on other days. With temperatures steadily rising, a spell of hot weather could extend beyond the weekend according to the Met Office, aligning with seasonal averages.
Currently Popular
In contrast to the preceding week, the weather outlook becomes uncertain starting from the week after next.
In the northern regions, temperatures are expected to reach the upper teens consistently over the course of the week, with occasional spikes in certain areas. For instance, Edinburgh is forecasted to experience a high of 20C on Friday.
According to Mr. Claydon, “While cooler intervals at the onset of certain months are not uncommon, the start of June was notably below average in terms of temperatures, but now they are gradually returning to the expected levels for this time of the year.”
The weather conditions are expected to remain relatively stable through the weekend, with any potential showers on Saturday being insignificant, as stated by the weather forecaster.
