The previous Castleford Tigers star joins the Giants on a rolling two-week arrangement but will not be eligible for the Challenge Cup encounter at Hunslet this Sunday, as Rovers aim to prevent him from becoming cup-tied.
Huddersfield was compelled to explore the loan market following a challenging pre-season marred by injuries.
Tui Lolohea and Zac Woolford are anticipated to return this weekend; however, the Giants are still without players such as Adam Clune, Leroy Cudjoe, Liam Sutcliffe, and George King.
Taane Milne – another off-season recruit – is currently in Australia celebrating the birth of his first child, while Sam Halsall suffered a dislocated elbow during the club’s final warm-up match against Featherstone Rovers.
“It’s no secret that we’ve encountered several knocks and injuries, so acquiring Danny is truly beneficial for us as he enters the prime years of his career,” Robinson stated.
“Danny is also an exceptional goal kicker. With Cluney unavailable, there is a gap that needs filling, and we hope he can address that. He may also remain part of the team once Adam returns to full fitness.
“This presents an excellent opportunity for Danny. He is eager to play and showcase his talent. He is a skilled player, and he will bring additional direction on the field, allowing others to express their abilities.”
Richardson, who has taken part in only two competitive matches for KR since transferring from Castleford midway through last season, is expected to make his Giants debut when Robinson’s squad faces off against Warrington Wolves in the first round of Super League next weekend.
