Selena Gomez has removed a video in which she became emotional regarding Donald Trump’s immigration policies following criticism.
The 32-year-old American singer and actress, who has Mexican roots, seemed to be responding to the immigration initiatives enacted by Donald Trump.
The president has vowed to execute the largest deportation in US history, and the White House disseminated images on Friday of individuals in restraints being escorted onto a military aircraft with the caption: “Deportation flights have commenced.”
In an Instagram video that has since been deleted, Gomez expressed through tears: “I just want to convey that I’m truly sorry. All my people are under attack.
“The children. I can’t comprehend this. I’m so sorry; I wish I could take action, but I feel powerless.
“I am unsure what steps to take. I will attempt everything, I assure you.”
Following some criticism on social media, she substituted the video with a message on her Instagram story stating: “Apparently it’s unacceptable to show compassion for others.”

One of her detractors, Republican Senate hopeful Sam Parker, commented that she should “be deported” on social media platform X.
Gomez seemed to address this on her Instagram story, remarking: “Oh Mr. Parker, Mr. Parker. Thank you for the humor and the intimidation.”
Gomez most recently appeared in the Oscar-nominated Spanish-language film Emilia Perez, portraying one of four Mexican women connected with a cartel.
