Wynne Evans, a prominent figure from Strictly Come Dancing, has expressed regret for making an “inappropriate and unacceptable” comment directed at a woman during the launch of the live tour.
The 52-year-old Welsh opera artist, known for his appearances in GoCompare insurance commercials, has been partaking in the live performances following his participation with professional dance partner Katya Jones in the previous year.
A video captured during the launch event on January 16 revealed him making the remark towards a woman, as reported by the Mail On Sunday.
“My choice of words was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I offer my heartfelt apologies,” Evans stated in a formal announcement.
A representative from the Strictly live tour and BBC Studios remarked: “We were previously unaware of the comment and did not receive any complaints.”
“We have firmly communicated to Wynne that such conduct is intolerable during the tour.”
Evans was unable to dance during the Glasgow tour performance on Saturday due to an ankle injury and shared pictures showing his bruised ankle via an Instagram story.
“My ankle is improving a bit; it was wonderful to sing in Glasgow tonight, even though I couldn’t dance. Hopefully, I’ll be back tomorrow,” he stated.
“But stay tuned, I will keep you updated in the morning and see how the swelling reduces and everything else, thank you all for the lovely messages, truly amazing.”

Apology Regarding ‘Joke’
In October, both Evans and Jones issued apologies for a “joke” involving Jones relocating Evans’ hand from her waist during a performance.
Jones also seemed unenthusiastic about giving her celebrity partner a high-five, which they referred to as “a recurring joke”.
This incident follows Strictly’s decision to implement chaperones “at all times” during rehearsals in response to multiple allegations of bullying on the show.
