An individual has been apprehended following a ‘random attack’ that left four individuals injured at a parcel facility in south London.
Emergency services and police were summoned to Marlowe Way in Beddington, south London, at approximately 10:15 a.m. this morning.
A staff member informed Metro that the assailant was not an employee of the facility and had arrived at the entrance armed with a knife.
Upon arrival, the attacker was confronted by a security guard, who was subsequently ‘tackled,’ leading to the assailant stabbing three additional staff members.
A worker recounted to Metro: ‘An unfamiliar individual approached the gate claiming he was an Argos employee.’
‘A security guard confronted him, tackled him, and was then stabbed. Further male staff members attempted to assist, resulting in three additional stabbings.’
The security guard was stabbed in the arm but is reportedly alright.
‘The individual responsible for this incident was not employed here.’
The suspected individual was detained shortly after the incident occurred inside the parcel distribution facility.
Images from the site depict a cordon established outside the Sainsbury’s and Argos establishment, as staff convened on the upper levels.
A representative from the Metropolitan Police stated: ‘At 10:15 hours on Thursday, 23 January, officers were dispatched in response to reports of a stabbing at a location on Marlowe Way, Beddington.’
‘Authorities are on-site alongside the London Ambulance Service to attend to four injured individuals.’
‘The suspect has been taken into custody.’
