Brazilian Olympic kitesurfer Bruno Lobo has saved a woman who seemed to be in distress in the ocean.
Mr. Lobo recorded the incident off the coast of Sao Luis on 10 January while testing a new camera.
Sharing the video on Instagram, the athlete mentioned that after riding for a short period, he heard a “scream for help” and noticed “a girl in the water struggling to stay afloat.”
He stated that he swam closer, attempted to soothe her, and instructed her to hold onto him.
The footage then depicts Lobo using his kite to guide the woman back to the shore, where lifeguards were on standby to provide assistance.
“The lifeguards administered first aid upon reaching the beach, and thankfully, everything turned out well,” Lobo expressed.
Issuing a caution to others, he remarked: “Stay vigilant regarding the hazards of the ocean, rivers, and unfamiliar locations, as currents can often be extremely powerful.”
Lobo made his Olympic debut at the Paris Games last year.
