Television host Katie Piper has disclosed her choice to receive a prosthetic eye, 16 years following an acid assault that resulted in significant injuries and partial vision loss.
The Loose Women panel member, 41, is a strong proponent for individuals dealing with burn injuries and disfigurements.
She published a video on Instagram showing the process of being fitted with the artificial eye.
Piper stated: “After several years of grappling with my eye health, I have somewhat arrived at a conclusion, and the choice has been made to pursue a prosthetic eye shell.
“This signifies the beginning of a journey toward obtaining an artificial eye, supported by an outstanding medical team.
“As always, I am immensely thankful to all the personnel in the NHS and private healthcare sector for their skills and compassion.
“I will document my experience, feeling both hopeful and anxious about my ability to adapt, and would appreciate any insights or guidance if you have undertaken a similar path.”
In response to her post, presenter Lisa Snowdon commended Piper as a “warrior” and a “genuine inspiration”.
