Television host Richard Hammond and his spouse have declared their separation after an “incredible 28 years together.”
The 55-year-old, widely recognized for presenting automotive programs like Top Gear and The Grand Tour, united in matrimony with newspaper columnist Amanda “Mindy” Hammond, 59, in 2002.
In a statement released on Thursday, the couple mentioned that they spent Christmas together as a family but will enter the new year “in a different way.”
“Just a quick update from us; this Christmas we were united as a family, and this year, we will remain a family but with a slightly altered structure,” the statement posted on X conveyed.
“Our marriage is concluding, yet we have experienced an incredible 28 years alongside each other and have two wonderful daughters.”
“We will always play a part in each other’s lives and take pride in the family we have built.”
“We will refrain from making further comments and genuinely hope our privacy, as well as that of our children, will be honored during this period. With Love, Richard and Mindy.”
The pair shares two daughters, Izzy, 24, and Willow, 22.
Together with his eldest child, Hammond co-hosts the podcast Who We Are Now With Izzy & Richard, which is set to return for its third series this year.
His family has also featured in his Discovery+ program Richard Hammond’s Workshop, which chronicles his journey in establishing a restoration business in Herefordshire.
Following a high-speed accident on Top Gear in 2006 that resulted in severe injuries, Hammond received his wife’s unwavering support.
He later joined his colleagues Jeremy Clarkson and James May for the concluding episode of the Amazon Prime series The Grand Tour on September 13 last year, which showcased the trio’s adventure across Zimbabwe.
