Dayle Haddon – the actress, advocate, and former Sports Illustrated model – has passed away, with authorities suspecting the cause to be carbon monoxide poisoning.
On Friday morning, law enforcement discovered the 76-year-old in an unconscious state in a second-floor bedroom after receiving a distress call about someone unresponsive at a residence in Solebury Township, Pennsylvania.
A 76-year-old gentleman, subsequently recognized as Walter J Blucas from Erie, is reported to be in critical condition.
First responders noted a concerningly elevated level of carbon monoxide within the premises.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the gas heating system’s “faulty flue and exhaust pipe” may have led to the carbon monoxide leak.
During her modeling career, Haddon graced the covers of renowned magazines such as Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, and Esquire throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue released in 1973.
In addition, she featured in approximately two dozen films from the 1970s to the 1990s, including the 1994 film Bullets Over Broadway, starring John Cusack.
After giving birth to her daughter, Ryan, in the mid-1970s, Haddon exited the modeling scene but found herself needing to return to work following the passing of her husband in 1991.
This return was met with a less welcoming atmosphere in the modeling sector: “At 38, they told me, ‘You’re not viable’,” Haddon recounted in a 2003 interview with The New York Times.
