A female has been detained on suspicion of killing a man on Christmas Day in Staffordshire.
The 33-year-old was taken into custody following the man’s death in the village of Norton Canes during the early hours of the morning.
Staffordshire Police stated that their officers responded to reports of a man in his 30s experiencing a cardiac arrest.
Despite attempts by emergency personnel at the location, he passed away shortly after.
The suspected incident occurred in the village close to Cannock around 3:25 am.
The victim’s family has been notified and is receiving support from specially trained officers.
The woman, identified by police as a local resident of Cannock, is currently being interrogated while in custody.
A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place on Boxing Day morning, according to police.
Officers maintain a police presence at the scene as they continue their inquiries, with expectations that this will remain in effect for several days.
The police department also indicated in a statement that residents in the area will notice an amplified police presence as they work to reassure the community and collect evidence.
